No Excuse November (and December)

I don’t know about you, but I have no idea how it’s already November…Summer seems like it was just yesterday! I guess that could be because it was still 85 degrees in Houston last week, but either way, ready or not, it’s almost Thanksgiving! It’s such a fun and busy time of the year but with it come the countless excuses (no, they aren’t reasons) to skip the gym. How often does one excuse lead to another and then it’s been a week, 2 weeks even, since you’ve been in the gym? We all know how hard it is to come back after a long hiatus away (if you don’t, I don’t recommend trying it!), so as we come into the end of the year consistency is key!

I challenge each of you to commit to coming to the gym at least 3x per week through the end of December. If a challenge from your coach isn’t enough, I pulled together a few reasons why you should be coming to the gym regularly anyways-

  • Most benefits (physical and mental) occur with at least 3x/week attendance. Yes, the physical strength and fitness benefits are definitely much larger when you attend class more regularly, but you also become more comfortable with movements making your overall experience better. Plus, the more of a routine you’re in the less likely you are just to skip a class here and there.
  • Your friends need you! You didn’t sign up for personal training did you? Class is way more fun with your friends when everyone is in it together. It’s also a lot harder to skip reps/cheat a movement when you know you’re working with someone else.
  • Get your money’s worth! You’re paying for your membership right? Use it!
  • You just feel better! No, that’s not scientifically proven but we all know that “working out gives you endorphins and endorphins make you happy and happy people just don’t…” fill in your blank with the negative things you don’t do when you’re on a regular exercise routine.

Call you friend, your accountability buddy, your coach (me!), tell them when you’ll be in the gym next and do it. No more excuses, close out the end of the year the same way you want to start it!
